Much Ado was made about summer losses being high last year, one other
thought comes to mind here. Spring losses have been high, (around 15%)
from rain, and mismanagement. Due to lots of issues my swarm control was
spotty, most of the hives that I am now seeing as lost, Swarmed, and the
new queen was not successfully mated due to I suspect nothing more than
constant bad weather. All the dead hives are down to a handful of bees, no
brood, no queen, and several supers on (indication they were strong a
month ago)......just another reminder that Mother nature can be a huge
factor.
