I’ve been running one hive with a 4-frame Flow Hive deep for 2 years now. If anyone’s interested, I have a PPT comparing the Langstroth and Flow Hive which I did as part of the Cornell Master Beekeeping course last year. (It was for a short, 15 min. oral presentation).

Is Flow Hive Worth It Then?

If you derive income from beekeeping - NO
It’s expensive, it’s delicate and requires heavy lifting to access the rest of the hive
7 Flow frames to fill one deep box - $447 plus shipping (summer ’18 price)
If you are a backyard beekeeper with excess disposable income - YES
Its design is aesthetically pleasing
It’s a backyard conversation piece
I can serve as a quasi-observational hive to show to apiary visitors

Give me a shout, if you want to see the full PPT.
