Yes, there are exceptions to every rule.
I concede,,,
A trap in the yard is better than none.

However, I also agree with Seeley 
that they bees seldom select a void 
closer than 300 m.

A  trap in a bee yard will have 
an occasional success catching the 
'seldom's as the Seeley study 
suggests.

But the 'preferred placement' of a swarm
trap, in order to achieve the highest degree
of success, according to the Seeley study, is 
to place the trap 300 or more meters away 
from your target.

I may have been a bit strong in my words
describing swarm trap placement in a 
beeyard as wrong.  But it certainly
cannot be described as the 
'preferred placement.'
