In my experience, at least half the hives in my yards are over 3% by August, and I treat all of them. I do sampling for record keeping, but the decision to treat in August is a done deal. 



Agreed Pete,  that sounds reasonable to me.  1% ( 3 per 300 wash) seems to be way to low of threshold.  Would I like less?? Sure  but for Aug time frame her in my yards,  I would be estactic with those numbers.   Seem to me 1% that time of year was a mis quote??
