Drone cell preference (DCP) is partly influenced by the proper- ties of the brood cells.

What does that mean?? Proper ties???

I am Loathe to argue with Randy's theory as I have no data, but it seems to be visually wrong. I notice a what seems to be a lot more mites in drone brood. But I suppose its entirely possible the worker brood is as badly infected and I don't dig out workers like I do drones.
Could it be possible the longer uncapped time alone is responsible for increased infection? This would support Randys assertion and what we seem to see in the hive itself. A longer exposed larve atime means more chances for the random worker to deposit a mite?? I would also surmise that drone brood requires more visits by workers for feeding larva, therby also increasing the opportunities?

Charles
