These traps are treated with a waterproofing material, and don't soak up water
at all.  In fact, in a rainy time of the year I have to tip the traps to one
side before opening them to pour off the rain water that accumulates on top of
them.  (My first such experience resulted in getting well doused with the
unexpected water!)
