I have a feeling this might end up like a discussion on who would win a fight, Superman or Batman?  (poor Aquaman never gets to play this game).

I think if a hive is 1 or 2 prophylactic treatments away from clinical symptoms of AFB, then you are not free of AFB...if your antibiotic of choice is especially persistent, then you would have to adjust this figure...if it is only the presence of antibiotics that is keeping your bees from showing symptoms, than they are not free of AFB.  

I don't think a hive has to be free of all spores to be free of AFB.
