" Over winter mortality was said to average 30% though
unlike Canada queen failure is blamed. CCD is present
throughout"

CDD according to whom? the thousands of backyard beekeepers who have ten hives or less? CCD has entered the vocabulary of beekeepers around the world, some of whom still are not certain of AFB or is it EFB they think they might have.

In my view CCD has more to do with group think and mass crowd behavior then a crisis in the bee world. The only thing thats required for a diagnosis is dead or missing bees, the internet, and a beekeeper and you've become a statistic.

A reading of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds is instructive. These same backyard geniuses were also certain several years back banning Bayer would solve all their problems so why the continuing losses? (no dissing of the French beekeepers is intended - just trying to show how this kind of group think knows no nations boundaries and we have it here also)
