The book "Honeybee Democracy" by Tom Seeley goes into depth concerning
various factors
a) that the bees prefer in house hunting
b) that are the most successful for a swarm surviving in its new home.

A nuc box is too small. A 40 litre cavity is much better. Some nest
cavities were in the 20 - 30 litre range but none was smaller than 12
litres. A standard deep box is about 41 litres.
