My spacing is *standard*.  It seems the bees want to have continuous combs vertically and therefore build a single level row of drone cells to join the frames bet. adjacent levels.  What spacing do you maintain bet. frame tops and bottoms?

I may take one hive and shave its box bottoms off so that the frame top to bottom spacing is ~1/8" and see if the bees don't build up the space.  Can't go too tight since have to let the bees pass bet. the frames in the winter.
