Animal pollination is an indispensable ecosystem service; globally, 90% of
wild flowering plants and 75% of the leading food crops are dependent to
varying extents on pollinator-mediated fertilization (IPBES, 2016). It is a
service approximately 20,000 different species of animals do freely and
coincidently, and it is not a provision that is easily replaced.

At its recently completed 16th session, The Commission on Genetic Resources
for Food and Agriculture requested FAO to consider including domesticated
honey bee and potentially other pollinator species into DAD-IS, the
Domestic Animal Diversity Information System. This survey is the first step
in that process.

We intend to amass data on the status of global honey bee and animal
pollinator populations to better understand regional concerns and
management. If you have knowledge, interest or experience with honey bees
or other pollinators we kindly request you help us with this endeavor. The
survey can be found in the link below:

Thank you in advance for your time and help to better understand and
monitor the worlds pollinators!
