BBKA Statement concerning a judgement from the European
Court of Justice on honey containing pollen from a Genetically
Modified Organism.

The BBKA is aware of the ruling from the Court and has been in
contact with Defra and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) who have
informed us that they will be considering the potential implications
of this, including those for GM trials, with the European Commission
and other Member States. The FSA further advises that the topic
will be discussed at a forthcoming meeting of the EU Standing
Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health following which
they should be in position to say more about the implications of the
opinion.

The BBKA will monitor these developments and assess their
possible effects both for its members and the public. Please visit the
BBKA website for further updates.
