Hi Trevor and All

I was also at Apimondia in Dublin in 2005 and met ( enjoyed a pint of
Guinness with several) members of the Bee-L group including Trevor and
Dave Cushman. As we visit Ireland most years I have had the
opportunity to experience their bees. A friend in Kerry had only one
hive but it would meet you 50 feet from the hive to ensure that you
didn't get closer. I visited the Dublin Beekeepers Association apiary
with my veil, tee shirt and jeans and was provided with a full set of
armour including rubber boots and gloves(my 30 year old gloves hadn't
been worn for 29 of those years) by my host. I donned the boots and
suit but stuffed the gloves in a pocket. I got 6 stings in my hands
before any hives were touched. My son lives in North Tipperary and I
help with swarms and splits when I'm there. Some are easy(swarms of
course) but most become unworkable without armour. Any hives I get
here at home that can't be worked in tee shirt and jeans eventually
get nuced.
