It has certainly been argued that way, with citations of increasing genetic
diseases, allergies, etc. Not saying I necessarily agree with all the
evidence as some of the problems are likely generated by different diet
etc, but I've had several professors argue that point exactly for
discussion.  I don't think there is any arguing that medical care
doesn't lower selective pressure in some ways.  I'd personally be hard
pressed to get around without contacts.
