The EPA requires the registrant to determine the amount of any residues left on all the crops listed on the label and the food prepared as it would be normally prepared for eating.  The crop tested must be grown under realistic ag practices in normal areas where such crops are grown commercially.  The residues may be the orginal active ingredient or metabolites of toxicological interest.  Obviously some metabolites are not of toxicological interest.  For example two very common metabolites are water and carbon dioxide which are not of interest.  If the crop is grown in several distinct geographic areas residue tests are require from each such area.  Often the same crop will be listed on the labels of two or more different formulations.  In such cases residues must be determined for each formulation.

The purpose of such testing is to establish how much of the allowable daily intake of residues come from that particular crop.  There are assumptions made by the  agency such as 100% of the crop eaten will be treated.  This is legitimate as it can be true for some consumers.   When residues use up all the daily allowable intake by summing the individual residues from all registered crops you can not register any new crops.

As round up is not registered as a treatment chemical to be used on bee hives I have no idea why a registrant would be doing either active or metabolites in honey.  I have no doubt if you pushed detection limits down to parts per trillion or parts per quadrillion you would find something.  With those detection limits you will find some of just about anything.  They are also generally totally meaningless from a toxicity standpoint unless you happen to be talking about a few of mom nature's natural products which are far more toxic than anything made and sold commercially.
