> I'm looking into purchasing a honey refractometer. There seems to bee two varieties, the ones priced under $100 and the ones priced over $300.

I bought this one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008S2E4P4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in 2014. Works just fine. Calibrate using olive oil. Under $30.

PS: the ad back then had no mention of honey, bees, or beer. If I had seen the "beerkeeping" error in the ad back then, I would not have bought it. Nevertheless, it works just fine.
