Tom Seeley recently wrote about Darwinian Beekeeping and said that ferals like to keep their populations down and swarm frequently to control Varroa.
So their bombs are not as large as beekeeper bombs or as loaded with pests and diseases when they collapse for whatever reason.



You miss the point,  except for a few ELAP lovers,  commercial beeks don't let the hives collapse,  that’s how they get to stay commercial.   When some get missed I would suspect the "shrapnel" stays within their own yards predominantly.

No money in dead hives.
