I never feed honey from one colony to another. My reasons:

1. Spread disease (frames always go with the honey and they are exceptional
carriers of all sorts of bad things).
2. Honey is actually a worse feed than either HFCS or sugar for
overwintering.
3. I can add stuff to the syrup to help the bees along. Syrup is a great
medicinal transport.

As a Northern Beekeeper, the season is much too short to add problems even
when there might not be one. Slapping on a feeder is easier and
scientifically better for the bees.

But you are not alone. Many feed just as you do.
