It didn't help. We put packages in and the colonies got chalkbrood as bad as the previous year. The point being, if the disease is present either in the environment or the bees themselves, -- sterilizing the equipment won't do any good. I have heard of no reliable cure for chalbrood except good weather. Good weather and a honey flow is the best way to get good colonies.
