I'd say that this is too cold for formic, but maybe Medhat or Randy will 
comment otherwise.

Sounds ideal for oxalic evaporation treatment to me.  Oxalic drizzle could 
work, especially if there is little or no brood.

Next opinion???

        I would use the oxalic and test again before almonds and if the 
levels are high then use the formic.
Less than five mites most feel is not of big concern.
