I have to mostly lean toward the "test in the lab" rather than the "test in
the field" approach, as I've yet to see field data disprove lab data in the
context of bee toxicology, but I've often seen lab data disprove claims made
based upon field data.

Because that's what you want to see, I have seen the opposite quite a bit.
Albiet not pesticide testing. We see things as we wish a lot... All of us.

The sympotoms I see are the dead bees tounges' hanging out. As of yet I
have not caught it at the time, with 150 hives in 8 different yards, daily
checks are not possible.
I have noticed that is occurs the most in yards near town. I have so far
attributed it to Flower consistency (Jerry if your reading do I get extra
credit for that???) assuming that that hive has decided that the flowers in
a certain yard are best, but unfortunately they are poisen.

You mention Apples, which brings up a different question, field relavant
doses for which crops?? I would expect Canola and corn to be different by
a huge margin as the bees feed little on corn pollen, and as you mentioned
apples are more dangerous than soybeans.... so how does one find out what
real doses are, and do we specify which crops? Corn and beans are 80% of
my forage area, Apples are non existent to my bees. SO that conversation
is different by location by what may be a huge margin, and should be part of
the discussion.

Charles
