I had one inquiry off line as to the stick method. I am sure the person will not mind me answering on line.
I doubt every person on the list is familiar with the method. Ask questions as the way we learn!

In dead of winter we use a stick (I have built a special tool) which I can stick into the entrance and pull out the dead bees.

No dead bees and all is well.

piles of dead bees you have problems.

A very reliable test only talked about in very old bee books!
