How many of these 'virgin drops' result in mated queens
that take over the colony, as a percentage ?

Virgin drops are normally good for about 85-90% take.

ME:
Without marking or clipping the queens, you have no real way of
determining the acceptance rate.

Last summer we requeened with queen cells, and judging from the number
of marked queens surviving, 85-90% is purely wishful thinking.
