I have had luck by insuring that the package or splits gets plenty of honey
and has a reduced entrance to help them. Be brave, in over 15 years of split
making I have only lost 2 or three packages or splits to the cold. I think
whether or not you have 2 or three pound packages makes a difference. Three
pounds are nice to start with.
