The statistic that has been blowing my mind as of late is that 1/2 the bacteria in the ocean are killed by viruses every day (!!!!)

I continue to expect that as our understanding of natural systems increases, that we will recognize viruses as part of the whole enchalada (benign/beneficial/pathogentic in one....a microbial "shalom") rather than having the near universal negative connotation that they currently have.  "beneficial virus" is a phrase you almost never see.
