   A good and simple reference to their use is as follows:
 
Schmidt, J.O., S.C. Thoenes, & R. Hurley.  1989.  Swarm traps.  American
Bee Journal.  129(7): 468-471.
 
   You might also be interested in my article in that same publication:
 
  1992  Wenner, A.M.  Swarm movement: A mystery explained.  Am. Bee J.  132
(1):27-31.
 
 
   Placement of the swarm hives is also important.  I recommend placing
them a couple hundred meters upwind (for prevailing winds in your area)
from your colonies -- head height or higher, with the entrance facing
mostly downwind.
