While the same hive of bees can thrive from the equator to Northern Alberta,
and the same line of bees in the same type of box can be equally productive
regardless of latitude, global warming can screw up the orderly accumulation
of growing degree days, and de-synchronize the emergence of solitary bees
and the blooms that depend upon them.  This is one example, a specialized
case that was easier to study because of the unique relationship.

 

The species of bee is not doomed here, the orchid is.
