>We have been keeping bees in Hawaii and attempting to make good burning candles for over 30 years. We have yet to be able to get the cappings wax clean enough so that the wicks (square weave cotton wicks or appropriate sizes) don't eventually clog with impurities to the extent that the wick drowns in melted wax.<

Greetings George With The Same Last Name,
Is the flame "tunneling" down inside the candle ? How do you know the problem is impurity clogging ? I recently did an experiment to tr to solve the tunneling problem that most large diameter pillar candles have and the thing that did the trick was to make the wick much fatter, resulting in a bigger flame. No wick clogging was evident.
I had an Uncle named George Huber in Kansas City, Missouri. Any relation ?
