Hello AllI fear that the Death Knell sounds for the Western Honeybeeirrespective of where it is found.A vast cocktail of chemicals and antibiotics is now sloshingaround the world causing untold damage to our environment andto every species on the planet.Talk of solving this problem makes no sense to me, since anysolution must obviously include the vast reduction of this chemicaluse. This would require a sea change in the way that humans live,in their expectations and indeed in their numbers. Few would accept this as a likely possibility. So what is the solution then to the horrible possibility statedrecently that the bees may have only ten years to live?If you ask me, I would say from all of the available evidencethat there is now no solution. Just enjoy your bees for as long as they are here and then mourn their passing. Or rather mournthe stupid shortsighted policies that caused their demise.SincerelyTom BarrettDublinIreland
