I have been informed off-list that dysentery is not associated with Nosema  
cerana as it is with N apis; and that it is most probably passed from bee to 
bee  by trophyllaxis and/or by infected adults feeding the larvae. From this it  
follows that it is not essential to sterilise equipment where Nc is present;  
however, it is likely that there are other problems also in the hive that 
would  be best kept down, including N.apis.
