We've an experiment where we're weighing large numbers of hive; so we
decided to check on scales.

Looking for scales, we discovered that modern digital scales have really
improved in quality, some have come way down in price.

Have a nice Ohaus SD200L platform scale with a digital readout head on a
curly cord, so you can read without crawling under the hive. Generally sold
for package weighing by shippers like UPS.

Also, found a really compact, accurate, affordable digital hanging scale.
American Weigh TL-330.

Bit more than the old spring scales, but its dead on with the Ohaus in
accuracy and the range is really good. Only about 25% more than the spring
type (not legal for trade) scales sold in our local farm supply and outdoor
(hunting) stores.

Now, you'll find lots of expensive digital scales, but with a bit of
internet searching, you will find very accurate scales for much less. I've even
got a pocket balance for small things from Harbor Freight that auto tares,
cost less than $20.

Jerry

So, if you're going to buy a scale, take a look at what's now available.

Jerry
