Where did this come from?   Statements like the above indicate to me something about the reliability of a writer's comments,  and reflect badly on this list, even if many or most other observations are known to be true.

I have many pictures of researchers in bee yards with no protection and can provide much more evidence that any researchers I know tend to wear similar amounts of protection to what any other experienced beekeeper would chose in the circumstances and maybe less.  After all, any researcher I know is an experienced beekeeper.  Moreover, and many have a wider range of experience, including international experience, than the average commercial beekeeper.
