I apologize for not being clear on my example, Mike.  There are no wild
type chickens, soy, or corn in the U.S.  My example referred to where there
would be a wild type with which escaped hybrids would be in reproductive
competition (such as by the introduction of these domestic hybrids into the
native ranges of the wild type parental species).  Perhaps a better example
of displacement of parent species by hybrids would be for the invasive
grass hybrids of *Spartina *or*Typha.*
