Hi Juanse,

Thank you for the link to the USDA patent. I've just answered a similar question on Bee-Line. Our research in Greece was not about finding a control agent for pests, we were examining honeybee behaviour and we have reported what we found. Honeybees produce and use 2-heptanone in defensive behaviour.

Vita is not interested in contradicting the USDA patent for the potential use of 2-heptanone in the control of hive pests. Our discovery is interesting in itself and may open up other areas of research in honeybee biology.
