Bob H asked what I remembered of contacts with Barry, in South Africa.

As I recall, Barry was a young person educated in beekeeping.  I do not
know if he was an entomologist, or just an 'ordinary' beekeeper.

I think my communications with him were primarily concerning SHB, which was
just a beginning US threat at the time.  I have often wondered why he
suddenly stopped contributing to the list.  At that time ther was
considerable unrest in SA and many Europeans working in agriculture lost
their lives.  I hope he was not among them.
