Some beekeepers would prefer stores made from sugar syrup in place of honey made from fall flows, the idea being that for extended confinement, sugar syrup stores has no ash content whereas the fall flow honey has considerable ash content.  This ash content builds up in the bees' guts and, not being able to fly and void in extended confinement conditions, creates conditions conducive to dysentery inside the hive.
