A violin maker and a bass player have each asked us for propolis to treat
their instruments. We'd like to know if anyone has had success with the
commercial propolis traps made to replace the inner cover (sold by Dadant,
Mann Lake and others). Comments in the Bee-L archives from a few
beekeepers several years ago indicate that they did not have much luck with
them.
Are there other, more successful methods of gathering propolis? I imagine
it would have to be pretty clean -- not the gunk we scrape off the
supers. I can't imagine coming up with the kilo one guy is looking for.
