Several years ago I tried out some Russian stock selected
from breeders which were referred to me by Dr. Rinderer.

At that time, the stock of russians I had, tended to
give off sounds during nectar luls which are typically
suggestive of queenlessness, -and running on combs
was common. The queens, during these luls would
often be located in odd locations in colonies such as
honey or pollen frames, perhaps even on sidewalls.
If you have russian stock, I would advise to get
used to this behavior.

If there is aggressiveness tied to this behavior,
strong alarm odors, perhaps dripping, -the colony
may require attention. Or the colony may
simply have had a 'bad day'.

Best Wishes,
Joe Waggle
