According to one source she can wait up to 3 weeks before starting to lay
unfertilized eggs.  However, it's also more likely to get a poorly mated
queen when you have only a brief break in the weather.  She may mate only
with very few drones before the weather turns bad again, and while she may
start laying fertilized eggs but will run out of sperm prematurely.
