Am I missing something here?  Has Tautz released any new data since the 2003
paper?  AFAIK, this is 7-year-old information that has not been replicated
anywhere.

Chris, I have reviewed a number of observation hive studies which generally
support a "normal" progression of tasks.  However, none of them included
thermistors to take into account temperature effects.

Contrary to Tautz' findings, a very recent paper by Medrzycki in JAR (2010)
found that bees emerged from larvae that were held at 33C rather than 35C
had much shorter lifespans as adults.  They were also more susceptible to a
typical test pesticide.
