Will swarm trap baits near hives *cause* a swarm?

I've just bought a box swarm trap developed by Dr. Schwartz, and I'm
wondering whether placing it "near" (within 300 feet) of my hives will
CAUSE them to swarm.
 
Does anyone have experience with swarm traps and the pheremone baits
and this issue?
