I have had a Davis Vantage Pro wireless system for several years and send data to both WeatherUnderground and the US National Weather Service as part of the CWOP program.  Have been an amateur meteorologist since I was a kid, and this was the perfect 'adult' toy for me.  Because I travel a lot, it is really useful to be able to check the actual weather in my back yard, especially since I am in a microclimate being near the river, and the closest 'official' NWS station can differ by several degrees temp and % RH.  And, since it is less than 100 meters from the bees, it is a good tool for beekeeping, too.  Also have a camera set up, so I can see, for example, if it snowed, but it is not public.
