Nuc or Package? It depends on what your goal is. If you want honey or need pollination, you want a nuc. If you are a nubee and want education, you want a package. Installing a package is a rite of passage, guiding the release of a queen delivers insight, watching for comb to be drawn followed by eggs and larva is an education you cannot get from a PowerPoint on YouTube. I deal with many aspiring beekeepers and always suggest packages. Later, when one is skilled enough to manage an ongoing bee operation, nucs do have their place. It is a matter of what goal you set when you acquire the bees.
