I just received some queens through USPS and at first I thought they were
all dead from the cold. It was in the mid-forty's yesterday morning and the
10 queens were in a paper mailing envelope inside a large plastic post
office container. As they warmed up, all of them started moving around
inside their cages and after about an hour in my warm truck, they were very
active.
I understand the heat of the day can be devastating to the bees in
shipment, but to what extend will the cold have on the queens egg laying
ability after installed in my hives.
