period might possibly wash most of the coumaphos out of the wax.

Unfortunately, not that easy, Mike.  The hive acaricides are lipophilic,
meaning that they bind to wax and oils.  So chemically you would have to
find a nonpolar solvent that was more attractive than wax, yet didn't
dissolve the wax.
