Has anyone hauled bees in a box truck with open back door as the only ventilation? Folly?

Yes, Have several times. With 185 packages you would need the largest truck they have if the weather is hot. That would allow enough space around them to not even be nervous in the heat.

I own a 28foot (larger than you can buy) and haul up to 500 at a time in that. On pallets single layer. Good air flow around.

Curious, you seemed to completely ignore the regular straight pickup??
