We did go through this some months back with a study on corn and planting
dust. It was held up as a condemnation of Imid (by only quoting the title )
but, when you read the study, it was the opposite. The main point I took
away from the study was -there were no problems found in apiaries around
the fields and that the only problems were with improperly planted corn
(bad planter which was fixed) and they were limited in scope.

They did get contamination but only by placing a nectar source on the other
side of the field and forcing the bees to fly directly over the planting
machine while it was planting, but even then, it was minimal.

It was interesting to note that, in a prior post, Dave Hackenburg was
lifted up as a beacon for the discovery of KBV and NC on his bees as the
cause of their collapse, while my recollection was that he, and others on
this list, laid the problem directly on Imid. Many of us said it was not
Imid but neglect, as he had been told his bees would die from Varroa if he
did not take action when he was in Maine on blueberries. It is nice to see
that some have come around to the reality of what happened and properly
pinned the tail on Varroa. It is unfortunate that Imid was propagandized to
the extent it was, including CBS 60 minutes. There may be problems with the
nics, but the "dust" that has been raised and proven false only masks those
problems. Boy crying wolf still is relevant.
