Fair enough, but the issue was AFB, where the equipment would be burned or landfilled. I have only had to treat one aggressive hive in this manner, so it seldom comes up. If it came up often, I'd probably switch to bottled C02. I have been told by commercial beekeepers that they take hot hives, move them into the comb room and fumigate the room.
