If it were closer, I would (as my past experience will show I've done more than my fair share of cut-outs).  But I'm inclined less and less.  I just don't have the time anymore and the resulting colony I bring home becomes an energy-draining, non-productive liability.
 
Unfortunately, I have perpetuated this myth that us beekeepers are a bunch of nature-loving do-gooders who float around the country doing these removals out of the kindness of our hearts.   Even with gasoline close to $4 last summer, I was still doing this service for free in the name of "saving the bees."  While my work was perceived as noble and the public service was necessary, I kept promising myself each one was going to be the last. 
 
I will be joining those who "charge hundreds of dollars," which will not begin to compensate me for my time that is really better spent elsewhere.
 
How do the rest of you handle these requests (sometimes demands) to remove the bees acquiescing to the threats of extermination?
