I run mostly small cell [PF-100's] and foundationless which have a variety of cell sizes. This year my mite counts were very high. I could not survive without treatments. Tried going without treatments on my production hives 3 years ago and lost every hive. My experience is that small cell doesn't seem to make a difference. With treatments last winter all production hives last winter survived.
